‘It is what comes from inside people that makes them clean or unclean.’
Jesus is making a very clear statement about us as human beings and how easy it is to speak and act in ways that are not proper. He makes it clear that we should aim to live with honest, integrity, patience and understanding in our hearts at all times.
Despite what good or bad comes to us, or how well or ill we feel, or how we relate to the world and the people that we meet, our actions and words are to be kind, honest and hopeful.
Our thinking, whether it is positive or negative, affects the way we speak and act. It is important to make sure it is what Jesus would expect from us.
