‘In your prayers, do not babble like pagans do.’

The Our Father seems to be a perfect example of how to pray. The Romany have a similar prayer, given me by my mother, as we have Romany ancestry.

Bora Dad, savo djives oteh … Our Father, who dwells there in the heavens, may all men and gipsies love thy name. Thy kingdom come. May they do thy word here as they do in the place beyond the stars. May all men and gipsies have bread for each day. Forgive us all we owe as we forgive our brothers who owe us. Suffer not that we fall into trouble and take us out from all ugliness. Thine is the kingdom, my God, thine the strong hand, thine all goodness in all time. Aye, truth.

As Lent begins, we are called to prayer.
