I believe I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Our God is a God of surprises! In Genesis we read of Abraham being not only surprised by the promise of a son but by a covenant with God, to make him the father of nations who will number more than the stars in heaven.

In the gospel, the three chosen apostles, as they awoke to witness the glory of heaven in the transformation of Jesus, were overwhelmed with surprise and wanted to spring into action to build a memorial to the wonder they had shared.

We could learn from these examples by having expectant hearts, counting our blessings and sharing the Good News with others as we go on our surprising journeys of life. Paul tells us that our lowly bodies are destined to be transformed to be like the glorious body of Jesus—the greatest of all surprises!
