The Feast of Saint Joseph touches a chord for most of us.

It would be interesting to pool our thoughts about Joseph with a few friends. The word ‘friend’ may help us to pray today. Do I have a meaningful relationship with Joseph as a friend? Do I tell him about what goes on in my life? Do I share with Joseph how life touches me as a person of faith? If I answer ‘yes’ to these questions I move easily into prayer today because it means that it strengthens and consoles me.

Maybe I don’t have a close connection with him as I do with Mary or some other favourite saint, but it could help today if I turn my prayer focus on to Joseph just as I do with an acquaintance who attracts me but with whom I know I need to work on our friendship.
