Jesus’ commission to Peter—’Feed my lambs; feed my sheep’—is a mandate for anyone who follows our Lord in faith.
We are called to be living extensions of Jesus in the present. United with his Spirit, it is our task to show forth in word and action—by the witness of our lives—his saving presence. Concern and care in very practical ways—paying attention to the physical and spiritual needs of others—are indispensable if the disciple’s life is to reflect faithfully the Master who came ‘not to be served, but to serve (Matthew 20:28).
Lord, give me eyes to see as you see, hands that are willing to help, a heart that is compassionate and courageous, and unshakeable trust in the power of your grace to transform my life and the lives of those I meet.
