The parables in today’s readings show us the kingdom of heaven.
Would any of us not go and sell everything we own to obtain great worldly wealth and treasure? We should be all the more prepared to give all we have in order to offer ourselves to the Lord. Entry to the kingdom of heaven is through a conversion. We are called as Christians to constant renewal.
Conversion is turning to face God and allowing God’s love and light to shine on us. The treasure offered us is far greater than any worldly wealth, but how often we find it difficult to accept. The first step in conversion is to realise that it is only with and through the Lord that we are able to gain the treasure. Let us ask God for the gift to offer ourselves unconditionally to him.
