‘The Mighty One has done great things for me.’

Such powerful words of faith and trust from Mary in the Magnificat. Easy words to recite, but not so easy to believe! I have watched and learned from a good friend over the last three years. She does believe this in her heart despite her circumstances. In this period, her 16-year-old son suffered severe brain injury in a car accident, she lost all her possessions in floods, both her mother and mother-in-law died and her own health deteriorated with constant haemorrhaging and a tumour in her neck.

In spite of all, my friend has made constant choices to put her faith and trust in God. Just as the lives impacted by Mary are many, so too, are those influenced by my friend. Do we believe in those words too?
