‘Well done, good and faithful servant.’

Dear Lord, we all hope to hear those words from you. Teach us to be grateful for the talents that you have given us.

It is easy to look at others and feel envious of them for the obvious talents they have but not so easy, perhaps, to look honestly at ourselves to see what we’ve been given. Help us to be clear-eyed when we look at ourselves and humble enough to acknowledge the gifts you have given to us and to use them to spread your kingdom.

St Paul tells us to live quietly and mind our own business; this needs talent indeed.
